Shelley is the Managing Director of the Compass Group Australia. The Compass Group Plc is the world’s largest food and support services company operating in over 50 countries globally and is listed on the London Stock Exchange. Since its incorporation in 1969, Compass Australia has expanded to become the nation’s largest catering company providing contract catering and concession services at hospitals, aged care facilities, mines, schools and colleges, hotels, offices, sporting venues and airports. The company also offers facilities management services, business support services and health education. Shelley leads the Australian business which employs over 12,000 people across 650 locations delivering catering and support services to business and industry nationwide.
Most recently Shelley Roberts was Executive Director Aviation Services (COO) of ASX listed Sydney Airport and has over 15 years’ experience in the service focused businesses such as the aviation industry. In this role, Shelley provided strategic oversight and leadership of Sydney Airport’s Aviation business building a safety first, customer focused culture and competing globally to attract new airline services to Sydney. She was responsible for strategically managing the interplay between day to day operations, airline business development, airline commercial negotiations and long term capacity planning and associated relationships with airlines, regulators and the government.
Prior to joining Sydney Airport, Shelley was Managing Director of Tiger Airways Australia Pty Limited, playing a pivotal role in the foundation and early years of this domestic airline. Before joining Tiger Airways Australia, Shelley was a Division Director at Macquarie Bank Limited in Sydney, Programme Director at EasyJet Plc in the UK and worked in Audit at KPMG in London.
In addition to her executive roles, Shelley was appointed to the board of ASX listed online travel agency Webjet in 2016. Former board appointments include: Non-Executive Director of Sydney Airport Corporation Limited, Deputy Chairman of APG&Co Pty Limited, a leader in the Australian fashion industry; and Non-Executive Director of Business Events Sydney.
Shelley graduated with a Bachelor of Business Science and Finance (Hons) from the University of Cape Town and is a Chartered Accountant. Shelley is also a graduate of the AICD Company Director’s Course and was a finalist in the Telstra Business Women of the Year awards in 2009.
