Stephanie Fahey was appointed in 2017 as the first woman to lead Austrade,the Australian Government agency responsible for promoting trade, investment, international education and tourism policy, programs and research. Previously she was Lead Partner for Education, Oceania at Ernst and Young (now EY) and prior to that was Deputy Vice Chancellor at Monash University in Melbourne.
Stephanie has also led a research institute at the University of Sydney and is currently a Council member of the European Australian Business Council and a Board member of The Asia Foundation (Australasia).
Previously, she was Chair of the NSW International Advisory Board and a Board member of the Canberra Institute of Technology. She has served on a number of other bodies including the Australia China Business Council, the Australia-China Council, the Foreign Affairs Council and the Australia Korea Foundation.
Stephanie holds a PhD from the Australian National University and BA (Hons) from the University of Sydney. She was inducted as a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors in 2012.
