Non Executive Director
Andrea Staines has been a full-time Non Executive Director for over a decade, on a range of entities headquartered around Australia, in infrastructure, transport & logistics and retail service arenas. She has been a Director on entities in the listed, unlisted, government and social enterprise spaces. Andrea is often recruited to boards of companies planning significant transformation, bringing together her strategy, commercial, organisational and people management skills, and her international orientation.
She is currently on the boards of QIC, SeaLink Travel (ASX:SLK), Uniting Care Queensland, Goodstart Early Learning and Tourism Australia. She was formerly on the boards of Aurizon (ASX:AZJ), Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC), Gladstone Ports, North Queensland Airports, Allconnex Water, Transport for NSW and Early Learning Services (ASX:ELS).
Andrea was Australia's first female CEO of a scheduled passenger airline, Australian Airlines, a Qantas subsidiary which flew between Asia and Australia, which she co-launched in 2002. In conjunction with this role, she was also a member of Qantas Group ExCo. Prior to Australian Airlines, Andrea was the first female Head of Qantas Global Revenue Management. During her time at Qantas Group, she was also the sole parent of two young children.
Prior to Qantas, Andrea worked in various financial roles with American Airlines at their Dallas headquarters.
Andrea has studied and worked in the US, Asia and Australia. She has a finance-focused MBA (with Distinction) from top-ranked University of Michigan and a B. Economics from University of Queensland, is a Fellow of AICD (Australian Institute of Company Directors) and is a Member of CEW (Chief Executive Women). She is an occasional SME facilitator in strategy, risk & governance, CEO mentor, university business school lecturer, and business speaker.
