Cecile Wake is the Vice-President Commercial & NBD at Shell Australia heading and a member of the Shell Australia country leadership team. She has accountability for all of the commercial arrangements and joint ventures that underpin Shell's oil & gas investments in Australia.
Prior to assuming commercial leadership roles at BG Group and Shell, Cecile was a corporate partner at leading international law firm Herbert Smith Freehills in London for 9 years with a practice focused on cross-border oil, gas and LNG project development, M&A transactions in the oil, gas and mining sectors and long-term sales arrangements for oil, gas and LNG.
Cecile is a director of QGC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Shell, and serves on the boards of UQ Sport and St. Aidan's Anglican Girls School.
Cecile gained a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Queensland (UQ) where she was awarded a Full Blue for Modern Pentathlon. She has represented Australia in Modern Pentathlon at seven World Championships and multiple World Cups.
In 2014 she was a CEW Scholar to the Executive Development Program at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Cecile was executive sponsor of the QGC Women’s Network for five years stepping down in 2017 to become Country LT sponsor of Shell Australia’s Kaleidoscope (LGBTI+) Network. As 2016 recipient of the Queensland Resources Council (QRC) Exceptional Woman in Resources award, Cecile delivered a keynote presentation to the QRC’s 2017 International Women’s Day Breakfast and was a panel participant for the QRC’s 2018 International Women’s Day inspiring futures conference.
