Perth Education City
Gaye McMath is the Executive Director of Perth Education City. This role represents the interests of all Western Australian Universities in attracting high quality, purpose-built and affordable student accommodation and other facilities in the Perth CBD. The role supports the Western Australian Higher Education Council strategy to grow the international student market in Western Australia.
Gaye was previously the Chief Operating Officer at The University of Western Australia and a member of the Senior Executive team reporting to the Vice-Chancellor responsible for Finance, Human Resources, Campus Management (including major strategic projects and the capital plan) and Venues Management, including The University Club of Western Australia.
Prior to joining the higher education sector, Gaye had a 23-year career with BHP Billiton where she held a range of senior executive roles in finance, strategy, planning, commercial and treasury operations within the minerals, steel and corporate divisions. Gaye was a BHPB nominated Director on a number of domestic and international mining and infrastructure subsidiary and joint venture Boards.
Gaye has had several Non-Executive Directorships and her experience spans 20 years on listed companies, Government trading enterprises, not-for-profit and national member organisations. She has been on Boards in the Mining, Resources, Infrastructure, Energy, Financial Services, Property, Education and Healthcare sectors. Former appointments include Western Australian Treasury Corp and Alinta Infrastructure Holdings.
Gaye is currently on the Board of Gold Corporation; the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the University of Western Australia. She has an MBA from Melbourne Business School at the University of Melbourne and has also completed the Advanced Management Program in Organisational Leadership at the Harvard Business School.
