Kate Olgers is the former Chief Legal Officer of Suncorp Group, an ASX50 publicly listed company, where she was a member of the Group Executive. Kate led Suncorp's Legal and Company Secretariat team, and was responsible for overseeing the management of Suncorp's legal affairs and the mitigation of legal risks throughout Australia and New Zealand, along with company secretariat services for Suncorp in both countries and the team responsible for detecting and investigating financial crime.
Prior to joining Suncorp, Kate was the General Counsel for NAB's Banking, Products & Markets and Wealth divisions, where she led a global team of more than 200 people. She has been Executive General Manager, Legal, for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia's Wealth Management and Group Technology divisions.
Before moving into corporate legal roles, Kate was a Partner in the Banking and Financial Services group at Allens Arthur Robinson. She was a founding Principal and Head of Financial Services at AdventBalance Lawyers, a firm that pioneered specialises in providing lawyers to clients on a secondment-only basis.
She has been a voluntary board member at the Women's Subscription Enterprise Advisory Board, publisher of The Big Issue in Australia; was a Women’s Commission member for Cycling NSW and is currently a member of the NSW Steering Committee for International Cycling Executives.
Kate holds Bachelor degrees in Economics and Law from the University of Sydney and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
While at Suncorp, Kate increased the number of women on her leadership team to 80%, where previously the percentage of women leaders was between 33% and 60%. She is a frequent speaker on career development, personal brand, networking, and diversity.
