Chief Executive, Australia and New Zealand

As Chief Executive Officer (Australia and New Zealand) for global engineering consulting company AECOM, Lara Poloni leads a team of around 4,000 designers, engineers, planners, scientists, economists and project managers across 25 CBD, regional and project offices. She is a member of the global AECOM Executive Committee as well as a member of the AECOM Asia-Pacific leadership team.

Lara has had experience in the planning, assessment and development of major infrastructure in the transport, energy and telecommunications sectors, managing major projects from initial business case development and feasibility through to operations. She has held several leadership positions since joining the AECOM team in 1994. Lara is a Member of Infrastructure Partnerships Australia Advisory Board, a Companion of the Institution of Engineers Australia, and a Foundation Member of the Committee for Melbourne. Lara has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from Monash University and a Graduate Diploma in Urban Planning from RMIT.

In 2015, Lara became one of 78 CEOs across Australia who pledged their support to become one of the Workplace Gender Equity Authority’s Equal Pay Ambassadors. She is also an active mentor for the Committee for Melbourne’s Future Focus Group Leadership Program, the Roads Australia Leaders of the Future program and the National Association of Women in Construction’s ‘Shadow a CEO’ program.

Lara previously developed the successful AECOM Women in Infrastructure network operating in Melbourne and Sydney, and is a member of AECOM’s Global Diversity & Inclusion Committee.
