The Australian Ballet
Libby Christie is the Executive Director of The Australian Ballet, an appointment she has held since July 2013.
Founded in 1962 The Australian Ballet, a public company limited by guarantee, is Australia’s national ballet company and one of the country's flagship arts companies. For nearly five decades The Australian Ballet has been the defining face of ballet in Australia and is now recognised as one of the leading ballet companies in the world. Libby is responsible for the commercial success of The Australian Ballet and day to day operations of the company and its subsidiary, Orchestra Victoria. Libby Christie manages programs which deliver all annual revenue streams including ticket sales, commercial activities (including income from commercial properties) sponsorships, philanthropy and government grants.
Since 2008 Libby has also been a non-executive director of Standards Australia, Australia’s peak non-government Standards organization which works to meet Australia's need for contemporary, internationally aligned Standards which enhance Australia’s economic efficiency, international competitiveness and enable a safe and sustainable environment.
Prior to her current roles, Libby acted as CEO of the Australia Council from December 2012 to May 2013, and prior to that held the role of Executive Director of Arts Funding at the Australia Council for the Arts from 2009 to 2012. From 2003 to 2009 Libby was Managing Director of the Sydney Symphony, and prior to that role, Libby held senior management roles in the technology and telecommunications sector.
Libby is a graduate in Arts and Adult Education from Sydney University and the Canberra College of Advanced Education (now University of Canberra.
