Professor Linda Kristjanson is the Chief Executive Officer and President of Swinburne University of Technology, responsible and accountable to Council (Board) for all aspects of the efficient and effective operation of the University.

Swinburne delivers excellence in higher education, vocational training and research. The University is governed by the Swinburne University of Technology Act 1992, under Victoria legislation and operates within a Council and Academic Senate structure. The Vice-Chancellor's scope includes Strategic Quality & Planning, Finance, Research, TAFE, Higher Education, Student and Corporate Services, international Development and the Chancellery.

Swinburne is an innovative provider of tertiary education, with seven campuses based in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne and in Sarawak, Malaysia. Annually, the University educates 60,000 students with programs ranging from Certificates to PhD level. The University offers industry-relevant courses in engineering, IT, aviation, business and management, design, multimedia, health, visual & performing arts, community studies, sustainability, hospitality, tourism, natural resource management, horticulture, and building and construction.

In recent years Swinburne has been recognized as one of the top 500 universities as measured by the QS World University rankings reflecting its achievements in research excellence.

Professor Kristjanson has served on the Board of the International Centre for Radioastronomy Research and is a non-Executive Director of the Australian Synchrotron Company Ltd. She chairs the Board of AuScope Ltd, a company formed through NCRIS funding to develop earth science research infrastructure.
