As
Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz AM concludes her term as President of Chief Executive Women, on behalf of the entire CEW community, I want to acknowledge and thank Susan for her exceptional leadership and commitment to advancing women’s equity and leadership in Australia.
During her tenure, Susan steered CEW through a time of growth and transformation.
She helped drive significant advocacy wins such as firmly establishing
gender equity as a national economic imperative, legislated universal early childhood education, legislated gender targets for large companies, and increased engagement across Australia’s top businesses.
She expanded the reach and impact of our
scholarship and leadership programs, opening doors for more exceptional women across Australia. Most notably, she has championed the new CEW Ruby Scholarships, securing funding to accelerate the progression of women into Executive leadership positions in diverse industries across Australia.
Our membership grew, reflecting the incredible diversity of women leading across the economy, and led significant improvements in CEW’s governance, positioning us for the future with strength and integrity. It’s been a privilege to witness her leadership, and I’m grateful for the strong foundation she leaves for all of us at CEW.
As Susan reflects on her time as CEW President, she shared the following message with our community:
"Gender equality is not about virtue signalling. It’s not a tick the box exercise. It’s not about women vs men. It’s not even just about equity. At its heart, it’s about harnessing the power of teams with true diversity of experience, drawing from 100% of the population, not just half of it.
Gender equality is not a ‘nice to have’ bit of window dressing that detracts from the business of business – rather it’s a business imperative to drive better outcomes, for the good of all.
CEW has an important role to play as we work towards this true diversity, and it has been an honour and a privilege to serve as CEW’s President for the last 2.5 years"
We thank Susan sincerely for her service and look forward to building on the lasting legacy she leaves behind.
