The not-for-profit sector plays a critical role in Australia. It’s a diverse sector, ranging from service organisations to advocacy groups to thought leaders. Many not-for-profits have played a vital role in supporting vulnerable Australians when they need it most – especially during this pandemic.
The Schmidmaier/Mayne Scholarship was created to enable emerging women leaders in the not-for-profit sector to take their careers to the next level. Four successful scholarship applicants will attend CEW’s flagship leadership offering, the CEW Leaders Program.
CEW Scholarships Chair, Deidre Willmott, said:
CEW is excited to offer four women leaders working in the not-for-profit sector this unique opportunity to grow their leadership potential through the CEW Leaders Program. Now in its second year, this scholarship brings together women from a wide range of industries and sectors and is core to CEW’s mission of women leaders enabling women leaders.
2021 RECIPIENT – PENNY PALMER
One of last year’s scholarship recipients, recipients, Penny Palmer, Legal Governance Risk & Compliance Director at the Fred Hollows Foundation, is grateful for the encouragement and support she received from her network and CEO to apply for the scholarship, and for the learnings from the Leaders Program.
I gained insightful tactics for approaching challenging scenarios, and how we can draw strength from experiences generously shared by inspiring people. I am grateful for the wonderful opportunity through this scholarship, and I’d encourage those operating in the not-for-profit sector to take the plunge even though your days, and often nights, are already full to bursting. It’s worth it.
As Penny has now successfully completed her course, she will also become a member of the CEW alumni community, CEW Connect, and have access to exclusive events with CEW members as well as joining a supportive network of successful women leaders.
