Alex Coates

Alex Coates is a respected leader with international experience, specialising in IT operations and outsourcing. Alex’s success in operational delivery and building new opportunities has been driven by her forward looking, customer focused philosophy in which she models to ensure this mindset is embraced by every member of her team. After successfully leading Datacom’s outsourcing and network operations as the Chief Operating Officer since 2018 across Australia and New Zealand, Alex was in 2020, appointed the role of Managing Director of the Australian business. In this role, Alex provides strategic leadership and direction to the Australian business and is responsible for overall growth and performance. Alex strongly believes collaboration and strategic partnerships with customers are fundamental to improving outcomes and ensuring alignment to their future goals. Her focus remains on harnessing the strengths, scale and abilities of Datacom’s ecosystem to solve customers’ complex challenges. After beginning her professional career in the United Kingdom and Europe, Alex moved to Australia in 2007 to run large scale operations teams in Canberra and Melbourne in both public and private sectors. Alex joined Datacom in 2011 as Director, Victoria, growing its business and market presence significantly over five years before being given trans-Tasman responsibility for leading transformation projects and operational standardisation. Her leadership style has always been to lead by example, inspiring people to drive themselves and in turn the organisation to success. Alex loves to spend family time with her husband and two daughters, also enjoying time outdoors and being a passionate supporter of her favoured English sports teams.
