Alexandra Gartmann

Alexandra is currently a NED of Nufarm, Chair of the Victorian Agriculture and Climate Change Council, Deputy Chair of the Australian Wool Testing Authority, a director of the Australian Farm Institute, the OneBasin CRC, is a trustee of the Helen Macpherson Smith Trust and Presiding Member of the GRDC Selection Committee.
Alex was Managing Director and CEO of Rural Bank from 2015-2019 when she took on Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Executive for Marketing, Partnerships & Corporate Affairs & CEO Rural Bank, until 2022. Prior to this Alex was CEO of the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR), a charitable foundation based on a partnership between philanthropy, community, government and business supporting the economic prosperity of rural, regional and remote communities across Australia. And earlier Alex held the position of CEO of the Birchip Cropping Group for 10 years, a not-for-profit agricultural research organisation based in the Mallee Wimmera region.
She has been Chair of the CSIRO Agriculture Advisory Council, a Board member of the Rural Finance Corporation of Victoria, a member of the Prime Minister's Community Business Partnership, the Victorian Agriculture Advisory Council, the Crawford Fund, the National Rural Advisory Council and La Trobe University Regional Advisory Board. She was also a member of the 2011 Victorian Floods Disaster Appeal Fund, the Australian Landcare Council, and the Regional Telecommunications Independent Review Committee.
Alex holds a Bachelor of Science, Honours, from the Australian National University. In 2005 she was Equity Trustees' Not-For-Profit CEO of the Year, recognised for Significant Innovation and in 2008 she was a Telstra Business Women's Award Finalist.
Alex is a strong advocate for rural and regional women, seeking ways to grow diversity in rural employment and overcoming obstacles to entry for women. Some advocacy and advisory roles specific to women have included the Federal Regional Women's Advisory Council, the Victorian Women in Primary Industries Advisory Panel, and an ambassador for the Coo-ee Collective.
