Cathie Armour

Cathie Armour

Cathie is one of Australia's leading corporate lawyers and financial regulators, with over 30 years' experience in the Australian financial sector.


She is currently a non executive director of Cboe Australia, a market infrastructure provider. She is member of Housing Australia board. Cathie is a Member of the NSW Independent Liquor & Gaming Authority. She is also a member of PwC Australia's Audit Quality Advisory Board. Cathie is a Sessional Ombudsman at the Australian Financial Complaints Authority.


Until June 2022, Cathie was a Commissioner of ASIC, Australia's corporate, markets and financial services regulator. ASIC is constituted by its Chairman and other Commissioners. At ASIC Cathie worked most closely with its teams regulating financial markets infrastructure, supervision of listed markets, investment banks and market participants and market integrity enforcement.


In her 17 years as a General Counsel in Investment Banks, Macquarie Capital and JP Morgan Australia, Cathie developed a sound reputation as a specialist in equity, debt and private capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, and compliance and legal risk. Cathie was closely involved in the development of the legal, compliance and risk functions within Macquarie Capital.
