Christine Gee

Christine Gee grew up on a cattle property in North Eastern Victoria. After completing her Arts degree at the ANU, her passion for travel to wild places led her to be co-founder of Australian Himalayan Expeditions (now World Expeditions), a trekking and adventure travel company.
The company was a pioneer in adventure travel. In the early 1980s was the worlds largest adventure travel organization with an annual turnover of $15m, plus many world first trips to its credit. Christine then established her own consultancy, Go Wild Pty Ltd, which worked on projects as diverse as BridgeClimb, Space Adventures (USA), Aurora Expeditions, and Ice-walk, the 1989 North Pole Expedition. The Government of Nepal appointed Christine as their Nepalese Honorary Consul-General, NSW (1987-2009). In 2003, Christine became a founding Director of the Australian Himalayan Foundation an Australian based NGO dedicated to health, education, wildlife and environment projects throughout the Himalayas. Since 2010 she has been the Australian marketing director for Guest Apartment Services (Paris) a boutique luxury apartment rental company. Christine enjoys participating in a range of philanthropic activities, and continues to enjoy travel, cycling, and working closely on publishing ventures with her partner, the Australian author Bryce Courtenay.
