Elena Wise

Elena Wise was appointed Country Manager, Japan and Korea for Google Technical Services - Ads in October 2016 and is based in Tokyo, Japan. She was previously CEO of PayPal Japan for three years. During her time with PayPal Elena developed a strategy for domestic market expansion and recruited and developed a new executive team to executed the strategy. She led staff across sales and marketing, compliance, government relations, finance and legal. She also oversaw a product team that localised products for the Japanese market and customer service & operations. Elena has held several senior positions including 10 years with American Express as Vice President and Head of B2B, APAC, based in Sydney. She was also IT Strategy Manager & Shared IT Operations Centre Manager at Boral Ltd and an Associate Director/Management Consultant with Coopers & Lybrand in Australia and the UK. Elena was elected as a Councillor to Woollahra Council, representing Paddington Ward, in 2012 and served in that role until 2015. Elena has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales and a Masters of Business Administration from the AGSM. Elena is also a Chartered Accountant.
