Evie Bruce

I am the incoming Group General Counsel and Head of Legal and Governance Group at Macquarie and am a member of Macquarie’s Executive Committee.


Prior to joining Macquarie, I was at global law firm King & Wood Mallesons, where I was most recently the Managing Partner responsible for the Australian's M&A and Banking & Finance Teams, head of the Financial Services Sector Team and a member of the firm's International Management Committee.


I have been ranked by Chambers and various other various other legal industry publications as a leading lawyer, written a regular column on trends in M&A for the Australian Financial Review and have been a Visiting Lecturer at Monash University teaching a course in equity capital markets law.

I am a member of Corporations Committee of the Law Council of Australia, Law Society of New South Wales and State Bar of New York, and a member of Chief Executive Women. I am also on the board of Asia Society Australia, and a member of the Leadership Circle for Action Aid’s Arise Fund.

PREVIOUS BIO

Evie Bruce is the Australian Managing Partner responsible for King & Wood Mallesons' Banking and Finance and Project and Real Estate teams. She also leads the firm's Financial Institutions Sector team. Prior to joining the executive team, Evie led a successful practice in M&A and capital markets. She is a relationship partner for a number of King & Wood Mallesons' key clients and a member of the Corporations Committee of the Law Council of Australia, and a former member of the King & Wood Mallesons' Australia Partnership Committee. Evie was appointed as a Partner of the firm in 2008. She has two years of international experience with Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP in New York. Evie has written a regular column on trends in M&A for the Australian Financial Review and has been a Visiting Lecturer at Monash University teaching a course in equity capital markets law. Evie is a graduate of the University of New South Wales holding a Bachelor of Arts, Economics and a Bachelor of Law. Evie has been involved in King & Wood Mallesons' diversity initiatives for many years, she mentors women throughout the firm and was a member of the Diversity Committee.
