Fay Calderone Calderone
Employment Fay is a Partner in the Employment & Workplace Relations team at Hall & Wilcox.
Fay has acted for employers for over 20 years, in industries including health and aged care, finance, insurance, professional services, retail, construction, manufacturing, community organisations and government. Fay advises and represents employers on all matters touching the workplace including discrimination, bullying, harassment, misconduct investigations, performance management, restructures and change management, enterprise agreements and industrial disputes. In circumstances where disputes cannot be resolved, Fay represents employers in proceedings before Industrial tribunals including unfair dismissals, general protections, bullying, discrimination, sexual harassment and restraint matters in State and Federal Courts.
Passionate about promoting diverse and inclusive workplaces, Fay is outgoing Chair of the firm’s National Diversity, Inclusion & Wellbeing Council advising the Board and partners with advice policies, training, leadership and initiatives for our firm of over 1,300 partners and staff.
Fay is a recognised expert and go-to person on employment issues. Fay thrives on the insights gained from speaking at major industry events and is a regulator commentator on workplace issues in mainstream media and industry publications. She encourages employers to move beyond box ticking compliance to the creation of healthy, respectful and inclusive organisations that enable workers (and in turn organisations) to thrive.
Capturing her reflections on her life's work, in 2024 Fay launched her new book, ‘Broken to Safe: Tackling Toxic Workplace Cultures and Burnout’. As an Amazon bestseller, Fay's book is an essential guide offers a blueprint for cultivating safe and inclusive workplaces.
Fay is recognised in leading legal directories and has won numerous accolades, most recently being recommended for labour and employment in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2020-2025, The Best Lawyers in Australia (since 2019), Doyle's Guide to the Australian Legal Profession (recommended since 2021, leading in 2025), the Top 50 Leading Women in Law lists in Australasian Lawyer’s Elite Women 2021 & 2023 and by Lawyers Weekly as Partner of the Year in Employment Law (2022).
