Fiona Thompson
Fiona Thompson was appointed Chief Risk Officer of ASX50 publicly listed company Suncorp Group in 2016 and is responsible for leading the risk management, compliance, internal audit and external customer dispute disciplines of the group. She is also a director of a number of Suncorp Group subsidiaries.
Fiona joined the organisation in 2001 and most recently held the positions of Acting Chief Risk and Legal Officer, Chief Risk Officer - Insurance and Associate General Counsel. She has more than 20 years in senior legal roles in AMP, GIO and Suncorp Group. Over the course of her career Fiona has been a strong contributor to numerous industry forums, particularly the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA).
Her work with the ICA on a range of key regulatory issues, including the Insurance Contracts Act amendments and the Future of Financial Advice reforms, has had a direct impact on legislative outcomes and change for the industry.
Fiona holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Law from Macquarie University.
