Heather began her career in South Africa in 1990, establishing a diversity consultancy to dismantle apartheid in the South African workplace. She opened the doors of Symmetra in the APAC region in 2003, building inclusive leaders, teams, systems and culture. Symmetra has grown into a Global Consultancy with teams in North America, South America, Europe and APAC. Recognised as an influential thought leader, Heather regularly presents to C-suite clients, Boards and Executives in the private and humanitarian sectors across the globe. Her multidisciplinary team conducts diagnostics; advises on best practice policy and strategy; provides proprietary best practice frameworks, guidelines and toolkits, innovative digital solutions and unique process and content, which Symmetra has built over the last two decades. Most sought after is Symmetra’s unique set of proprietary Inclusion Assessment Tools used by thousands of executives to benchmark their inclusion strengths and performance gaps, acting as a major catalyst for sustained behaviour change. Testimony to Heather’s recognition as a global DEI expert is that she was voted Finalist in the Telstra Business Women of the Year Awards (2011); has been invited to present at international conferences in the USA, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Hong Kong and Singapore; invited as contributing author on Diversity and Inclusion in Maverick Executive: Strategies for Driving Clarity, Effectiveness and Focus (2016); has numerous publications to her name in Forbes(2024), and is appointed repeatedly onto the Global Expert Panel which ratifies the Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Benchmark Standards™ (2006, 2011, 2015, 2019, 2023)
