A born lobbyist and reformist, Hetty has been recognised nationally and internationally as a woman of integrity, passion and determination with the ability to create the real change needed to help real people. Spending almost 30 years as a voice for her community, Hetty continues to draw attention to, and inspire positive change in how Australia protects its most vulnerable - children, the aged and disability. A graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors & inductee to the prestigious Chief Executive Women, Hetty had a career in senior finance and business for 15 years before entering the public consciousness in the 1990s. The sexual assault of her daughter in 1996 led to the creation of Australia's first children's charity dedicated to the protection of children against sexual assault. Hetty's leadership and tenacity resulted in Bravehearts having a proud and voluminous record of achievement. Hetty has since founded Safeguarding People Australia and is now working with the community, corporate and government sectors to ensure we successfully install the National Child Safe Principles and other standards to protect the nation's most vulnerable.
