Jane Couchman

I am a senior executive in the banking and financial services industry specialising in, Legal, Risk & Governance disciplines with over 30 years’ experience. I am the current Risk Leader of the year of the Risk Management Institute of Australasia (RMIA). I have had executive management roles in legal, risk & compliance, governance & advocacy, regulatory strategy, and corporate sustainability roles. I have led group wide Governance Culture and Accountability transformation programs at Macquarie Bank, Commonwealth Bank of Australia(CBA) and Aware as well as numerous strategic transformations, such as, the risk integration of Asgard and BT Financial Group with the merging of St George and Westpac banks; and the recent digital transformation with the internalisation of the administration platform at Aware Super. I have led multiple global and enterprise level regulatory reforms, including financial crimes, cybersecurity, and operational resilience as well as major regulatory remediation programs, including multiple EUs and the APRA Prudential Review of CBA. I am currently the Chief Risk Officer, and Group Executive, Sustainability at Aware Super, and prior, I was the Executive General Manager, Compliance at the CBA, Global COO, Compliance and Head of Enterprise Compliance at Macquarie Bank, Chief Risk Officer at BT Financial Group, and General Counsel at Perpetual. I am a director of the key superannuation industry body, Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA), and an NSW Committee member, of Women in Super (WiS). I have held, and continue to hold positions on company boards, and board committees and not for profit boards.
