Julie Batch McIstratin, Mappfin, ANZIIF (Fellow)

In the role of CEO, NRMA Insurance, Julie is responsible for IAG’s direct insurance operations in Australia including NRMA Insurance. Rollin Insurance and IAG’s insurance partnership with Royal Automobile Club of Victoria (RACV). She was formerly Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer and Group Executive Intermediated Insurance Australia (Acting) and she has served as IAG’s Chief Customer Officer and brings that experience to support our direct customers in Australia. In her Strategy, Innovation and Customer roles Julie combined strategy with customer governance, data, artificial intelligence, innovation and venturing to improve customer experience and drive product, pricing, marketing, and digital innovation. Her focus was on building new growth pathways and developing future insurance capabilities. Julie joined IAG in 2005. She has deep insurance knowledge with experience in capital, reinsurance, underwriting, risk management and corporate governance. Earlier in her career, she held senior roles at Gen Re Australia, part of the Berkshire Hathaway Group, as well as with other reinsurance organisations internationally. Julie is a Director of Gradient Institute, a not-for-profit organisation whose purpose is to progress the research, design, development and adoption of ethical artificial intelligence systems, a Director of Tiimely, a digital mortgage origination platform and was previously the Co-Chair for the insurance stream of the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI PSI). She has a Master of Creative Intelligence and Strategic Innovation, a Master of Applied Finance and is a Fellow of ANZIIF.
