Kate Jenkins

Kate Jenkins was the Australian Sex Discrimination Commissioner at the Australian Human Rights Commission from 2016 to 2023.
Immediately prior to this appointment she was the Victorian Equal Opportunity & Human Rights Commissioner. Kate is a former Partner specialising in Employee Relations with Herbert Smith Freehills. Kate has also been on the boards of Carlton Football Club, Heide Museum of Modern Art, Play By The Rules and Berry Street Victoria.
Kate led Respect@Work: National Inquiry into Workplace Sexual Harassment in Australian Workplaces; Set the Standard: Independent Review into Commonwealth Parliamentary Workplaces; Change the Course: national survey on sexual harassment and sexual assault in university settings; Change the Routine: Independent review of Gymnastics in Australia, the Commission's collaboration for cultural reform in the Australian Defence Force, in the Australian Federal Police and In the Australian Border Force.
Kate has a Bachelor of Arts (Law and Fine Arts) (Hons) from the University of Melbourne and is a Graduate of the AICD Company Directors Course.
Kate was recognised in 2015 in the Australian Financial Review and Westpac 100 Women of Influence Awards for her work in public policy.
