Kirsten Rose

Sustainability Kirsten Rose joined BHP’s Global Strategy and Innovation team in 2016 as the Head of Low Emissions Technology. Her focus is on developing and deploying technology solutions to drive greenhouse gas emissions reductions from BHP operations as well as from the downstream use of BHP products.

Kirsten’s professional career has spanned over 25 years in a variety of industries and general management roles in the US, UK, and Australia. Before joining BHP, Kirsten was the West Australian State Manager for the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD). Prior to that, Kirsten served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Sustainable Energy Association of Australia, a peak body in the sustainable and renewable energy industry.

The foundations of Kirsten’s career were built in commercial and client service roles in strategy consulting and marketing services. She holds a BA in Art History from Northwestern University in Chicago.

She has served on several not-for-profit boards and is currently a Non Executive Director at Bloom, the student-led entrepreneurship organisation in Western Australia. She is also a former Director of the Perth Chapter of Founder Institute, a Silicon Valley-based entrepreneur training and start-up launch program, and she enjoys mentoring entrepreneurs and helping bring people and organisations together in ways that foster innovation.

Kirsten is a regular speaker on issues including the future of energy, emissions reduction, gender diversity in leadership, and the importance of innovation in corporate strategy.
