LISA CAFFERY

Dr Lisa Caffery is a respected non-executive director and business leader with governance experience across regulated, asset-intensive sectors including water, infrastructure, resources and health. Based in rural Central Queensland, she brings a unique cross-sector perspective and a commitment to advancing sustainable outcomes in rural and regional Australia. As Board Chair of Sunwater Ltd, Lisa oversees the stewardship of regional Queensland’s bulk water assets and leads the strategic governance of transformative, long-term infrastructure projects. She also serves on the board of Dam Safety NSW, guiding the independent regulation of critical safety standards across New South Wales’ dam network. Lisa’s extensive board portfolio also includes non-executive director positions with Mater Misericordiae Ltd and Central Highlands Community Services Ltd. These appointments reflect her dedication to delivering measurable social impact and fostering innovation in regional communities. In her executive capacity, Lisa is the founder and managing director of Caffery Group Pty Ltd, with 15 years of experience driving sustainability initiatives with expertise in Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) frameworks. Her ability to navigate complex challenges while unlocking transformative opportunities has cemented her reputation as a forward-thinking leader. Lisa’s academic achievements include a PhD from Central Queensland University, completion of the University of Cambridge’s Sustainability Leadership program, and the Australian Institute of Company Directors course. Her research interests span social impact, STEM education, and the resilience of rural communities.
