Liz Westcott

Liz joined EnergyAustralia, one of Australia’s leading energy retailers, in July 2018 as the Head of People and transitioned to being Energy Executive in May 2019. In July 2021, Liz became EnergyAustralia’s Chief Operating Officer with broad responsibility for HSSE and procurement, as well as the operations of our existing generation portfolio, the construction of new generation projects, and the execution and operations of their growing distributed generation assets portfolio supporting their retail business.

As the Chief Operating Officer, Liz is responsible for the operation and development of the company’s generation portfolio, comprising around 5,000 MW of owned and contracted wind, solar, coal and gas power.

The Energy business unit has around 1,000 employees, spread across 7 sites and 3 states. Under Liz’s leadership, Energy oversee the operations, maintenance and engineering required to operate two coal fired power stations (Yallourn and Mt Piper) and four gas fired power stations (Tallawarra, Hallett, Newport and Jeeralang) providing reliable, affordable energy to around 1.7 million customers.

Before joining EnergyAustralia, Liz had a 25-year career with Esso Australia, the local arm of United States-based oil and gas business, ExxonMobil. During her time with ExxonMobil, Liz held roles spanning strategic planning, operations, project management, technical, commercial and safety leadership in Australia, the United Kingdom and Italy.

Liz is an experienced Non-Executive Director in the not-for-profit sector and is currently on the Board of Beyond Bank Australia.

She has Bachelor of Engineering and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
