Margaret Staib

Margaret Staib is a non-executive director of the Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation, the Sydney Airport, QINETIQ Australia and the Australian Royal Aeronautical Society, and Margaret is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a member of the RAAF Active Reserve. Margaret commenced her professional career as a military logistician with the Australian Air Force, after completing a Business Degree at the University of South Queensland. Her military service included holding the position of Commander Joint Logistics and Commandant of the Australian Defence Force Academy. Commander Joint Logistics (Chief Operating Officer) is the senior military officer accountable to the Chief of the Defence Force and the Secretary of the Department of Defence for the oversight and assurance of the Defence logistics capability. Commander Joint Logistics is also accountable to the Vice Chief of the Defence Force for Command of the Joint Logistics Command. This military command is located in 45 locations around Australia, directly employs 1270 Defence and Australian Public Service staff and several thousand personnel through third party contracts. In 2010-11, the Command's expenditure was $400.5 million. In 2001 she was seconded to the United States Air Force Pentagon where she worked on Supply Chain and Strategic Procurement reforms. She was recognised for her work with the United States Meritorious Service Medal. Throughout her military career, she gained a strong reputation for organisational and business transformation. She achieved the rank of Air Vice Marshal and was at the time the most senior female officer in the ADF.
