Mary Ploughman
My education consists of Meriden School and University of Sydney where I studied Economics majoring in Accounting . I commenced working life at Price Waterhouse as a graduate and quickly switched to banking as my real interest was in the financing of business rather than the accounting for business. I worked initially as a credit analyst for a Westpac subsidiary before moving to Macquarie Bank in 1986, in the Corporate Finance and Leasing Services Division . I worked at Macquarie for 10 years where I built skills in structured finance , client management and transaction management .I progressed to the role of Divisional Director responsible for the non mortgage / client facing securitisation business. This was a nascent industry in Australia and we won a number of awards . I realised a passion for securitisation and all structured finance as business / government enablers. I also realised a strength in building teams and promoting women and their careers. These passions continue through my career My largest role was with Resimac where I joined as Director Funding and reached the role of CEO over 17 years , navigating the financial crisis , buying a number of portfolios including a competitive acquistion of RHG Ltd and then a back door listing through the acquisition of Homeloans Ltd . I oversaw the building of the book from $3bn to $15bn , built NPAT to $100m and market cap greater than $800m ( ASX300) An incredible experience during which time I was a positive sponsor and mentor to many women in my team who progressed to the Executive Team I was also the Deputy Chair of the Australian Securitisation Forum , during which time I started Women in Securitisation an initiative which supports and promotes women in the industry ( this is now a global initiative in the industry. ) I was also appointed to Sydney Motorway the NSW Government corporation which built Westconnex Post my executive career I have built a portfolio of NED roles and advisory roles where I add the value of my career to enhance those businesses. I continue to support and mentor many women and speak on panels and in forums sharing my experience I am married with 2 sons and 2 grandaughters . I love travel , fine food and fine wine , skiing and the ballet . I enjoy networking with business people and continuing to learn and grow
