Melanie Evans

Melanie Evans
Melanie Evans was appointed CEO of ING Australia in November 2020. Prior to her appointment, Melanie led the ING Retail Bank. Melanie has spent her career in financial services across a range of functions and business lines. During her time at BT she held leadership roles across equities, superannuation, investments and wealth management platforms. Transitioning back to banking as a Chief of Staff in the Westpac Group, she went on to hold leadership roles across mortgages, transformation and business banking. Melanie moved to ING in 2017 as Head of Retail Bank. On joining ING, Melanie became the executive sponsor for the ING Diversity & Inclusion Council. In addition to changes that have resulted in a more diverse leadership group and pipeline, Melanie led ING’s refreshed parental leave approach. ING was the first bank in Australia to give all parents equal access to generous and flexible paid parental leave in 2019. ING removed unhelpful gender labels from parental leave and also removed the primary and secondary carer construct. Melanie volunteers her time as an independent director on the Board of Surf Life Saving Australia and Chair of the Finance, Audit and Compliance Committee. She is a Board member of the European Australian Business Council. As a Director of the Australian Banking Association, Melanie chairs the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee.
