Michelle Alexander

Michelle Alexander is a distinguished leader with an extensive career in banking and financial services, spanning ~25 years. She is known for her ability to drive critical and complex programs that support large-scale organisational change and transformation.
Starting her career in Internal Audit, Michelle expanded her expertise by taking on senior leadership roles in Line 1 Risk, Strategy and Operations, Fraud and Security at some of Australia's most respected financial institutions. A notable career highlight was her appointment as Chief Controls Officer of CBA’s Retail Bank, where she led a team in implementing and embedding changes required by the 2018 Prudential Inquiry into shortcomings in governance, culture and accountability at CBA, often cited as one of the largest corporate transformations in recent Australian history.
Currently, Michelle serves as the Chief Controls and Customer Outcomes Officer of ANZ’s Retail Division, a position she has held since May 2024. Throughout her career, Michelle has focused on supporting her team to deliver the best outcomes in the right ways.
Michelle values respectful interactions, constructive challenge, personal and professional growth, challenging the status quo, and physical and mental well-being as essential to fostering healthy, engaged teams and achieving exceptional performance. She is a passionate advocate for women in banking and has actively supported the careers of many women through coaching and mentoring.
