Michelle McCormack

As a leader with extensive experience over 25 years across military, government, infrastructure and community sectors, Michelle McCormack has built a career marked by strategic leadership, governance expertise, and operational success. Her formative career focused on engineering leadership and project management within both the Australian Army and in private sector, and she has since undertaken senior executive and non-executive roles in the Australian Defence Force, the Victorian Government and in the not-for-profit sector. Currently serving as Commander of the Army’s 4th Brigade (Victoria and Tasmania), Michelle concurrently commands the Australian Defence Force’s Joint Task Groups positioned in Victoria and Tasmania. Her non-executive appointments are as an independent Trustee on the Board of the Victorian Government’s Shrine of Remembrance, a member of its Audit and Risk Management Committee, and a non-executive Director of the Royal Australian Engineers Foundation. Michelle also recently completed a three-year tenure as an independent non-executive Director of the Board of Foundation Learning Centre, in which she was also the Deputy Chair and the Chair of the Risk Committee. Michelle’s most recent appointments have been National Director of Force Modernisation for Headquarters 2nd (Australian) Division (Army), National Director of Career Management Army and Executive Director for Strategic Operations within the Victorian Government’s Department of Justice and Community Safety. Honours and Awards include the Australian Active Service Medal, INTERFET Campaign Medal, Humanitarian Overseas Service Medal, Domestic Operations Campaign Medal and Chief of Defence Force group Gold Commendation.
