Misha Schubert
Misha Schubert is CEO of Science & Technology Australia, the peak body for the nation’s science and technology sectors. In this role, she represents more than 90,000 science and technology professionals working in industry, research institutions, the national science agencies, and people who connect science across the public and private sectors. Science & Technology Australia has been a powerful voice for stronger research commercialisation in Australia, including its visionary bench-to-boardroom science initiative. Science & Technology Australia’s flagship programs include Science Meets Parliament, Superstars of STEM – a game-changing initiative to advance gender equity and support women’s leadership in STEM – and the STA STEM Ambassadors program. Misha’s leadership career has combined deep expertise in public policy and policy advocacy, executive leadership, Government relations, member and stakeholder engagement, communications and journalism. She has worked in senior executive roles in the not-for-profit sector including for Universities Australia. She was the inaugural Director of Communications for the Recognise movement, campaigning with First Nations leaders across Australia to build grassroots community support and media coverage in the movement for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander constitutional recognition. In an acclaimed career as a journalist, she worked as a senior correspondent and national political editor for major Australian media outlets including The Australian, The Age, the Sunday Age, commercial radio outlets 3AW and 2UE, and the ABC – as a panellist on Insiders for a decade. She is a current Vice-President and Board Director of the National Press Club of Australia – Australia’s leading forum to debate ideas and issues.
