Ruth Coulson
Ruth Coulson was appointed Urban Utilities Chief Financial Officer in February 2018 with a broad portfolio across financial activities, procurement, economic regulation and customer pricing. Ruth seeks to balance critical value and risk trade-offs between customer, community and shareholders to drive social, environmental and economically sustainable outcomes.
A financial professional with over 28 years’ experience in capital intensive industries including utilities, infrastructure, logistics and retail sectors, delivering major transformation and change initiatives to optimise operational, financial and strategic outcomes. Ruth is a purpose orientated passionate leader, providing genuine passion and care, and seeks to foster organisational talent and cultural outcomes.
Ruth has worked in both Australia and internationally for head offices of listed businesses at Aurizon Limited, Hanson PLC, and professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers. Ruth’s core competencies include financial management, organisational performance, corporate finance, governance and risk, business transformation and capital management and optimisation.
Ruth is a member of the Audit & Risk Committee of the Great Barrier Reef Foundation and is a regular contributor at industry forums and networks. Ruth is a Chartered Accountant, has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Queensland, and is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
