Sally Farrier

Sally Farrier is a professional director and advisor with deep experience in infrastructure (energy, water, transport), regulation and government policy. She first studied Chemical Engineering, but at once sought to broaden her skills, completing an MBA in her early 20’s whilst working as a management consultant. • Since the early 2000’s she consciously pursued a portfolio career - keeping a sectoral focus, while performing distinct roles at different organisational levels, including being a founding director of a boutique advisory firm, serving as director on private, listed and government owned businesses and expert government appointments to panels and commissions. She has dabbled in start-ups and angel investing (focussing on female founders) and was a member of the founding team for a health tech start-up. • She is intensely curious, excited by complex problems and is often characterised as a constructive disruptor within a team. • She is currently a non-executive director of Orion Group (https://www.oriongroup.co.nz), and member Audit and Risk Committee and a Member of the Advisory Board for the Melbourne Energy Institute (University of Melbourne). She served as an independent non-executive director of ASX100 AusNet Services, (2014-2022), and NZX/ASX Meridian Energy (2012-2016). • She is Chair of independent Panel appointed by Victorian Minister in relation to the 50-year Central Gippsland Sustainable Water Strategy and was a Chair and a Member respectively of first and second independent reviews of the $1.7bn Australian Government Water for the Environment Special Account (Murray Darling Basin Plan) (published October 2020 and August 2022).
