Sally Macdonald

Sally Macdonald is an accomplished retail and digital CEO having led the turnaround and growth of the publicly listed Oroton Group from 2006 to 2013. In this role Sally sold three retail businesses to focus on the core brands, launched and grew Oroton online to >12% of sales and opened stores in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. The company’s valuation grew > 6 times under Sally’s leadership. In 2016, Sally took on the challenge of leading Big W discount department store overseeing $4 billion in sales and  ~20,000 employees.  Sally’s expertise comes from experience as a management consultant for the Boston Consulting Group in Melbourne and New York, and in various Merchandising and Operational roles for The Gap Inc in San Francisco. She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School (1996) and a Bachelor of Commerce (1991) from the University of Melbourne where she was also an Alumni of Distinction prize recipient in 2013. Today, Sally invests in and advises digital and retail businesses and serves as the Advisory Chair of the iconic Carla Zampatti brand and as a director of SYMBYX Biome, a med-tech laser company treating Parkinson’s disease and IBD via the gut microbiome. Sally resides in Sydney.
