Shaneen Marshall

Shaneen is an actuary, innovator, insurance executive and keen triathlete. She is passionate about connecting, leading, motivating people and solving complex problems. She is motivated by purpose - two purposes in particular; driving a just transition to a more sustainable planet and enabling financial resilience for more Australians, particularly woman. In pursuit of this purpose, Shaneen is currently leading Technology, Strategy, Transformation and Sustainability for composite insurer Zurich Australia and New Zealand as part of the executive team. While she has had diverse experience across all areas in financial services, she has spent ~15 years in insurance at leading banks and insurance companies in South Africa & Australia. She also chairs the ICA Climate & Resilience Committee on behalf of member general insurers. Shaneen has held largely innovation and transformation roles including: building new propositions and businesses, assessing M&A deals and subsequent integrations, operating model and cultural transformations, large technology projects and most recently leading and transforming technology during the interesting time of the emergence of gen AI. While many incredible woman have blazed a trail for her to succeed as a female in the workplace; throughout her career she has been younger than most of her peers and still often one of the only females at the commercial decision making table. She thrives on uplifting young females with her so they do not have to fight and can play their very important role in achieve financial resilience and a just transition.
