Sue Keay

Dr Sue Keay is a recognised leader in robotics, AI and automation who is passionate about the need for women to be involved in the development of emerging technologies so they are representative of all members of the community. She is currently a Director of Future Work Group, assisting companies with decarbonisation and automation strategies, a Director of AI education software company aimebee, a Director of computer vision start-up Visionary Machines and is available for speaking and consulting work. Starting as a geologist she moved into robotics, helping to set-up the Australian Centre for Robotic Vision. Sue led the Cyberphysical Systems research program at CSIRO's Data61 and most recently was Robotics Technology Lead at copper mining company OZ Minerals. After leading the development of Australia's robotics roadmap, she founded and chairs Robotics Australia Group, advocating for the robotics industry.
Sue represents Oceania for Women in Robotics and is responsible for bringing the Grace Hopper Celebration, the world's largest conference for women technologists, to Australia. Recognised as one of 50 remarkable and inspirational women in Australian science (COSMOS), on SME’s global list of 20 women making their mark in robotics and automation, as an outstanding contributor to the drone and robotics industry and as a Superstar of STEM. She is a fellow of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering (ATSE), a member of the prestigious Kingston AI Group, and an Adjunct Professor at QUT. Specialising in consulting, board, advisory and speaking work, she has an MBA from UQ Business School, PhD in Earth Sciences from ANU and is a Graduate of the AICD.
