Sue Matthews

Sue Matthews
Professor Sue Matthews, is a nurse by background. She is CEO of the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. She has held leadership positions in acute care, home and community care and government. She sits on a number of Boards and advisory committees including: the National Women’s Health Advisory Council, the Victorian Women’s Health Advisory Council and is the invited co-chair of the Victorian Inquiry into Women's Pain. Sue chairs the Victorian Healthcare Association and is on the board of Teacher's Mutual Bank. Sue holds a Doctor of Public Health and a Master’s in Health Science Nursing from Charles Sturt University, a Bachelor of Liberal Arts - Health Studies from York University, a Diploma in Nursing from Ryerson University and is a Fellow of the Wharton School of Business. She holds academic roles at University of Melbourne, La Trobe University and Trent University. A recipient of numerous awards Professor Matthews was named as one of Canada’s top 100 most powerful women and received the Canadian Nurses Association Centennial Award. The Women’s was awarded the Premier’s Health Service of the Year 2023. Sue was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Nursing (Honoris Causa) from La Trobe University in recognition of her role in healthcare leadership, and nursing. Sue is passionate about supporting women leaders.
