Susan Buckley
Susan was appointed as QTC’s Managing Director, Funding and Markets in September 2023 and brings to the role extensive experience as a group executive and over 35 years’ experience in financial markets and investment management. Prior to QTC, Susan was an Executive and Managing Director, Liquid Markets Group at Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC) where she led the Fixed Income and Liquid Markets Group, growing from $6bn in assets under management in 2001 to near $30bn by 2022 and managed over $100bn in asset (derivative) overlays. Before joining QIC, Susan held positions as the Head of Strategy for NRMA Asset Management, Senior Vice President at Bankers Trust (BT) Funds Management and Manager, Fixed Interest at Suncorp Investment Management. She also worked as an economist for National Australia Bank and was Director, Foreign Exchange Services with Syntec Economic Services. Susan is an outcomes focused and purpose driven leader with a sustained and successful performance track record in liquid markets for over two decades. She is highly skilled in strategy development and implementation, business leadership and disciplined financial management. Susan’s leadership has been widely recognised in the industry for her team’s achievements, as a Finalist in the Financial Standard Investment Leadership Awards in 2021 and awarded the Kanga News Sustainable Fund Manager of the Year Award in 2019 and 2020. Susan was awarded the University of Queensland Vice-Chancellor’s Alumni Excellence Award in 2017 and Telstra Business Woman of the Year 2011 in the Hudson Private and Corporate Award category for Queensland. Susan is a member of Chief Executive Women (CEW), member of AICD, a Founding Member of Bloomberg Women’s Buyside Network (BWBN) Aust/NZ Chapter (2020-22) and Chair of the Board of the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) Foundation. Susan has a Bachelor of Economics and MBA from the University of Queensland, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Economics from University of Melbourne.
