Vivienne Nguyen AM

I am a well-respected business executive with significant leadership experience in the banking, government and community sectors. I have established a proven track record in strategy execution, particularly in ambiguous and complex environments providing leadership, clarity and influence to deliver on business objectives. I possess strong execution, risk management, governance and stakeholder management experience. I am known as authentic leader with a growth mindset who brings stakeholders together to achieve strategic objectives and mutually sustainable outcomes.
Currently in my second term, the second Chairperson and female who’s been reappointed in the VMC’s 40 years’ establishment. This is a CEO role with strong influence across government departments on policies affecting the multicultural communities, who account for over 50% of Victoria’s population, where over 50% of Victorians who have at least one parent who was born overseas, and almost 30% of Victorians speak a language other than English.
I am responsible for providing strategic advice to the Victorian government to effectively engage Victoria’s diverse cultural population to improve the ‘cost-to-serve’ of government services by those in need whilst reducing their reliance on government support. In this role, I have become a trusted advisor who fosters community harmony and champions change, diversity, inclusion and representation.
More broadly, I have been a community advocate in the multicultural communities and have made my contributions in a range of fields, notably the establishment of the Vietnamese youth leadership program “Dual Identity Leadership Program”, which has been identified by the Scanlon Foundation as an effective youth leadership program with many transferrable factors that can be applied to other youth leadership programs.
