Our Members

CEW members are leaders across diverse sectors in Australia, including government, business, sport, academia, the arts, and the not-for-profit sector. Our members share a unifying goal: to remove systemic barriers and create pipelines that enable Australian women to rise to leadership positions in their communities—ensuring a diversity of women's voices at every decision-making table, and ensuring that both men and women can thrive in both the workplace and at home.

Our History

In 1985, 15 visionary women executives founded Chief Executive Women (CEW) to address the underrepresentation of women in leadership. Their foresight laid the foundation for CEW's commitment to championing women's leadership, focusing on diversity, inclusivity and gender equity in Australia. Learn more about our inspiring founders and their dedication to advancing women in leadership roles.

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and pay our respects to their Elders past and present. CEW celebrates the diversity of First Nations people and their continuing connection to land, water, and community, and acknowledges the strength of First Nations women leading their communities. We extend that respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are part of the CEW community.
