AI helped write this blog to promote our scholarship that supports women leaders working in data science or artificial intelligence

In an era defined by groundbreaking technological advancements, the CEW-Actuaries Institute Harvard Scholarship emerges as a beacon of empowerment for women seeking to make their mark in the dynamic fields of data science and artificial intelligence (AI).

Would you have guessed that first sentence was written by ChatGPT, an AI-powered language model developed by OpenAI? We hope so, because it’s a little bit on the nose. Regardless, it’s an impressive result after doing nothing more than asking ChatGPT for an opening sentence for a blog post about the new CEW-Actuaries Institute Harvard Scholarship.

It’s been a big year for AI, data science and large language models like ChatGPT and Google’s LaMDA. A journalist’s unsettling conversation with Microsoft’s AI-powered Bing search engine made the front page of the New York Times. In February ChatGPT hit 100 million monthly active users just two months after launch, making it the fastest growing consumer application in history, before Meta’s Twitter/X competitor Threads broke that record a few months later.

Data science and AI are already impacting our lives in numerous ways and that impact is only set to grow. It’s important that diverse voices get the opportunity to contribute to the development of these influential technologies. That’s the driving force behind the development of our latest scholarship.

The Actuaries Institute and CEW Harvard Scholarship is searching for a senior women leader working in data science or AI who is looking to supercharge their professional development at Harvard Business School.

The successful candidate will have at least three years senior executive experience in the sector and will win a place in Harvard Business School’s Growing as a Purposeful Leader. The scholarship is valued up to $25,000 which includes tuition, accommodation, and travel expenses.

Applications close August 21.
